This occupation is taking place on unceded Coast Salish territory, and must be treated as such. The Watch House and camp will operate under Coast Salish jurisdiction
This occupation is first and foremost a place of spirit and Indigenous title. The Watch House will host spiritual gatherings, and thus the space needs to be treated with the respect given to sacred ceremony
We are gathered to stop Kinder Morgan because of Coast Salish responsibility to protect their land, water, and ceremonies now and for future generations.
The Watch House will operate under the Coast Salish law of Nawt’samat - One Heart, One Mind, One Soul, we are all related. Therefore, everyone and everything involved in the Watch House project, from the surrounding neighbourhood, along with the environment we are using, must be treated with absolute respect.
The land and waters where this occupation is taking place must be respected to the fullest extent. No destruction or desecration of the area will be tolerated.
We encourage the help and participation of Indigenous and non-Indigenous allies to gather with us in a peaceful way.
This is a peaceful occupation. No weapons of any kind, or any actions of violence will be tolerated.
Alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited from entering the area of the Watch House and surrounding area.
We must leave the area we are in as we found it. The Watch House project aims to produce as little waste as possible, and not disrupt the ecosystem with any littering.
Those who wish to stay at the camp must contribute to the occupation. Skills and participation may vary, however what is important is that everyone is giving back based on their own capacity.
Participants that fail to abide by the protocol, or disrespect elders and members of Indigenous community, may be asked to leave the camp and Watch House.
