Support Ryerson Unions! (Say no to lockouts)

A few seconds is all it takes to send a solidarity message: http://local1281.cupevotes.ca/

On September 30, 2013 the Continuing Education Students Association of Ryerson (CESAR) locked out their two unionized staff and cut off their health benefits. A "lockout" is a tool employers use to bully unionized workers and break unions. This aggressive anti-union action taken against its workers was entirely avoidable.

CESAR is demanding that the workers take a pay cut and that the Union agree to delete unionized jobs from the Collective Agreement. This is a blatant anti-union position. Clearly, CESAR wants to replace its unionized staff with low-wage, over-exploited, part-time workers who would have minimal protections and no rights to benefits. This is unacceptable for a student union that says it values social justice.

CUPE 1281 staff want to go back to work now! CUPE workers want to get back to providing CESAR members with the valuable student services they deserve
