Below is a simple six step process with pictures on how to see how much SFU deducted your pay for not crossing a picket line to preform contact hours.
1. Go to myinfo.sfu.ca/ and log on you will see this on the following screen, click on “Payroll and Compensation Home”
2. On the next page click on “View Paycheque”
3. The next page will be of your most recent paycheque, to see paycheques from previous semesters click “View a Different Payment” which is pointed to by a black arrow below:
4. The next screen will look like the photo below. Any deductions that would have been made would be in one of the November or December paycheques. Another curious method used by SFU is the addition of a “Strike No Pay” line item that occurs on all of the earnings break downs of this period, but does not necessarily count against your pay total.
5. For instance, this is what the weeks will approximately look like when pay is not deducted. The "YTD Amount" line item should be the total amount you had deducted.
6. This is what the specific week(s) will approximately look like when pay is deducted. Note that the line item “Strike No Pay” has a negative number under the “Amount” column when normally it is only under the Yearly “YTD” column.
In the example below the member did not cross the lines for one day that they would have normally had contact hours with students. Thus 1/10th of their bi-weekly salary is deducted (which works out to be 2.56 units for SFU). Inexplicably SFU elected to subtract an additional 11 cents on top of the $56.81 that they were allowed to deduct. If SFU deducted more than 1/10th of your bi-weekly total (aka the "Regular TSSU" "Amount" line) let us know at tssu (at) tssu.ca
