Harrassment Survey Working Group Call-Out

You may recall that on April 18, 2013 the TSSU and the GSS sent out a joint survey to our members asking about their experiences of harassment at SFU.  We were quite alarmed by the preliminary results, and have begun organizing around this issue.  For example, approximately 25% of respondents said they had experienced harassment at SFU.  Even more startling, after the survey defined various behaviours that constitute harassment, that number jumped to almost 40%.

We would like to invite all interested members to join our working group on the issue of harassment at SFU.  Next meeting will be July 4, at 1pm in AQ 5135. Next steps may include:

·         interpreting and disseminating the data we’ve already collected;

·         crafting additional / follow-up surveys;

·         planning potential advocacy and/ or awareness efforts;

·         developing strategic action plans and recommendations for intervention in cases of harassment.

Please contact us at tssu(at)tssu.ca if you’re interested in learning more, being added to our email list, or attending working group meetings.  Our next meeting will be July 4, at 1pm in AQ 5135.
