We had our first General Membership Meeting of the Fall Semester on September 30th, and it was a huge success!
Our turnout was the biggest we’ve had in five years, wit
h representation from every faculty! Sessionals, Teaching Assistants, and Tutor Markers all crammed into the meeting room to discuss and debate the issues that are concerning our General Membership.
Some highlights are:
- Bargaining Update! Karen Dean, the TSSU’s Member Representative talked to the GM about what’s been going on at the bargaining table.
- We voted to support the CUPE campaign for a living wage for custodial staff at SFU, and DEMANDED that SFU become a living wage employer.
- We voted to host the 2012 CCGEU (Canadian Coalition of Graduate Employee Unions) conference right here at SFU.
- We ratified a number of new volunteers for our various committees – thanks guys!
