At its November General Membership meeting, the TSSU created a new committee empowered to address issues of injustice, inequality and poverty. The Social Justice Committee actually encompasses many of the responsibilities of two former committees – Donations and Membership Mobilization – but has also been tasked with identifying and running Union campaigns and endorsing activities and projects of other unions/organizations. The amount that the TSSU contributes has been increased from $400 to $1000 each semester. All of these functions – donations, campaigns and endorsements – must first secure approval from the General Membership, which retains final say over all Union matters. The Social Justice Committee is looking for more Union members to get involved. If interested, contact Christina at organizer@tssu.ca.
